CHOCOLATE – BEAN TO BAR BY CICADA & CHOCOLARTS
Chocolate—Bean to Bar by Cicada and Chocolarts Workshop at the Aroma Festival at the Rocks put on by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority this coming July 9.

In this workshop, the lucky winner will learn from artisan chocolatiers where chocolate comes from, how it is made, try samples, and have the opportunity to purchase their favourites.

Guests include expert chocolatiers from Sydney’s own Chocolarts and Cicada Chocolate.

bAKEHOUSE Theatre Company presents the Sydney premiere of The Ishmael Club
- part of the ‘late nights’ season at the Old Fitz Theatre in Woolloomooloo.

They called themselves the Ishmael Club. Outsiders. Bohemians.
They were avant-garde before it was cool, and they listened to music you've never heard of.
In the heart of Melbourne, fuelled by red wine, garlic and the possibilities of art, they held court
on topics ranging from 'the price of beer in China to the future of the soul'.

This is the story of artists Norman Lindsay, Will Dyson, and Ruby Lind.
Friends, rivals, political satirists, and above all else: artists.
Told by the woman who witnessed them as they were drawn across the streets of Melbourne,
to the strikes of London and the trenches of a Great War.

The Ishmael Club is a study in the nature of friendship and the mind of the artist,
the cost of war, and an Australia long past but lingering still.

The play, by Melbourne couple Bill Garner and Sue Gore, had a hugely successful run in 2003 in Melbourne with a cast featuring
Asher Keddie, Robert Menzies and Brett Climo, transferring to the Malthouse in 2004 and winning four Green Room nominations.

Sydney Small Bar Walking Tour.

Your friendly guide will introduce you to up to 14 small bars all within a short walking distance of each other. You will stop to enjoy 3 of them throughout the evening, spending about 45 minutes in each of the 3 venues. Upon arrival guests will be provided with a sample of the house specialties, which can range from espresso martinis, cocktails, single malt whiskey, homemade corn chips and guacamole or dumplings.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase further food or drink of your own selection if you wish. In between venues, short strolls will identify many other venues you would have difficulty finding on your own.

Hilarious musical madness abounds in Mozart's surprisingly modern comedy of love
Spoiled sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella are put to the test when their fiancés Guglielmo and Ferrando make a bet with their friend,
the worldly and cynical Don Alfonso, that their women will always be faithful to them. Will the temptation prove too great?

Add Despina, the girls' scheming employee, into the mix along with some truly magnificent moustaches,
and the stage is set for a hilarious series of mishaps and misunderstandings.

Sydney’s freshest young independent opera company Operantics invites you to its premiere production,
featuring the talents of aspiring young artists and one of Mozart’s most beautiful scores.

Among Mozart’s musical gems in Cosi – and there are many - is a trio said to be the most perfect ever composed.

The fully-staged modern interpretation of the opera will be in the original Italian with English surtitles.
A contemporary ‘hipster’ feel will play on inner-city culture, reflecting the piece’s timeless themes.

The production features a minimalist set in line with the company’s vision of letting the comedy shine
from the dialogue and the music and performers take centre stage.

The cast of Cosi - the Operantics’ debut production – comprises senior students and graduates of classical performance degrees
at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian Institute of Music and Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.

It features Joelene Griffiths as Fiordiligi, Dave Smith as Ferrando, Samanta Lestavel as Despina, Ian Warwick as Don Alfonso,
Tristan Entwistle as Guglielmo and Katie Miller-Crispe - who is also the musical director - as Dorabella.

Your Headliner is Aussie comedy icon, Rash Ryder. Over a period of more than 2 decades, Rash has amassed a huge catalogue of live comedy, film, television and radio credits. He has performed stand-up comedy in all of Australia’s top live comedy venues, at numerous, universities and in festivals such as the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Festival. 

Rash has toured extensively throughout regional Australia, in addition to performances in London and New York. Since commencing live comedy, Jason has twice been nominated for the ‘MO Comic of the Year Award’, which puts him in the company of such names as Vince Sorrenti and Jimeoin. Additional to stand-up, Rash is an actor, author, radio presenter and regular featured guest on TV and film.

Your Emcee is the one and only, Mikey Robins. Mikey spent seven years behind the microphone as host of Triple J’s National breakfast show before becoming a team leader and audience favourite on the iconic ‘Good News Week’ and its various franchises. On radio, Mikey has also featured on prime time shifts for Triple M and Vega.

In 2011, Mikey went to Afghanistan to entertain the troops. In 2012, he performed at the Sydney Opera House appearing in Celebrity Autobiography. In June 2013, he MC’d for the Dalai Lama at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, which he counts as a personal and career highlight.

Mary, Music and a Magic Show
Glen Street Theatre is thrilled to present the second instalment of The Hollywood Palace Series – a live musical concert and magic show followed by a special screening of the family classic film, Mary Poppins.

Kids of all ages will be thoroughly entertained this school holidays with timeless music by acclaimed violinist Vov Dylan and his quartet, a magic show by award-winning magician Joel Howlett, and a screening of one of the most celebrated family films of all time, Disney’s Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

“This movie has been a favourite of so many as they were growing up,” says Vov Dylan. “Now it is a chance to do something very rare – see this fabulous classic on the big screen! Combined with the magic music of years gone by and the added joy of magician Joel Howlett, it’s a show that celebrates the young and the young at heart.”
