L. van Beethoven – Piano Trio no. 5 in D major “Ghost”, op.70 no.1
E. Kats-Chernin – The Spirit and the Maiden
C. Saint-Saens – Danse Macabre

The Reservoir Trio return with a programme which explores music inspired by both our earth and the world of the supernatural.

Beethoven's D major trio has acquired the nickname "Ghost" based on its "strangely scored and undeniably eerie-sounding slow movement". Its outer movements are, however, completely typical of Beethoven's 'middle period', and consist of music which is earthly and absolutely human.

Sydney-based composer Elena Kats-Chernin chose the piano trio configuration for her piece which tells the legend of "The Spirit and the Maiden", and the Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens depicts the gruesome scene in which, at midnight, the skeletons of the dead rise from their graves and dance to Death's demonic tune.

Your Emcee is another National Raw Comedy Winner (2009), Michael Workman, whose many subsequent awards include Best Newcomer at the 2011 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Each of his thoughtfully crafted, personal and hilarious festival shows have won countless accolades and awards. Michael is one of the most exciting, creative and unique voices in Australian comedy and we are delighted to have him lead this very special show.

Luke and Michael are joined by cult comedy legend Nick Sun in Feature Support, as well as top rising stars: Danny Giles, Scott Thomson, Madeleine Culp, Des Pondent, Sean Michaels and Jennifer Wong.
