With the hotly anticipated release of family blockbusters Incredibles 2, Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Event Cinemas invites you to escape the cold and bring the whole family in this winter school holidays for an exciting program featuring hit family flicks, free arts and craft activities, and competitions.

After 14 long years of waiting, the world’s favourite superhero family returns for Incredibles 2, with everyone’s favourite hero Bob (Mr. Incredible) facing his greatest challenge yet – taking care of the problems of his three children – while wife Helen (Elastigirl) is out saving the world. The weather may be cool in Australia, but it’s all sunshine for Drac and his monster family as they embark on a luxury cruise in Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation.

Screenings will be accompanied by a heap of fun free artsy activities in the cinema’s foyer. Kids can create their own superhero or monster masks, design a monster cruise liner, draw their family as superheroes, create their own Jurassic Park ranger pass, make a paper monster, bookmarks or captain’s hat!

Pint-sized Picasso’s can also show off their skills at the colouring-in corner. Try your hand at the Hotel Transylvania 3 colouring competition and enter your artwork to win a Hotel Transylvania 3 prize-pack valued at $110!

If free activities for the kids isn’t enough, these special cinema outings are made easy and affordable with Cinebuzz Family Pricing. Cinebuzz Members can see Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation, and Incredibles 2 for $11 for all sessions before 5pm daily.

Pippie finds herself in the ward from which patients don’t usually return.
A curious character, she torments the staff with her klepto tendencies while they argue about potential treatments, performing outrageous numbers of tests and scans on body parts we weren’t even aware of.
A crack team of care bots attend to her every need. They even provide the entertainment. How convenient!

The Doc will use any technological means to cure the next big disease that she is increasingly obsessed with diagnosing.
Nursie, the last of the human carers, struggles with the technological takeover and determines what Pippie really needs is not another robot.

Pippie has her own secrets though. In this medical wonderland of technological advancement, is she really sick or is she just… dying?

Roomba Nation plays at the Old 505 Theatre in Newtown from 4-21 July.
Conceived by Alison Bennett and Directed by Felicity Nicol, it stars Bennett as Pippie, Nick O’Regan as Nursie and Kate Walder as Doc.
David Kirkpatrick is Hurrah Hurrah’s multi-disciplinary artist and creator of the ‘bots’ with writing associate Moreblessing Maturure.

Join us in this hilarious re-telling of Johann Strauss’ wonderful operetta "Die Fledermaus" – and remember to wear your finest masquerade costume since you might be invited to participate! Gabriel Eisenstein has to go to gaol tonight. First though, there is Prince Orlofsky’s fabulous masked ball which he simply must attend. Among the (disguised) guests are his gaoler, Frank, his maid, Adele, and even his wife, Rosalinda. When he finally gets to gaol, he finds that someone else has been arrested in his place – someone who was at his house and in his dressing gown the previous evening!

Australia’s most internationally-produced playwrights will be staged at the Eternity Playhouse
The Australian premiere of The Man In The Attic written by one of Australia’s most internationally-produced playwrights will be staged at the Eternity Playhouse in Darlinghurst, from Thursday 5 to Sunday 22 July 2018.

The Man in the Attic is the incredible, true story of a Jew who is hidden by a German couple during the Holocaust, but when the War ends, is led to believe that the War had been won... by the Nazis.

Locked inside their attic for his ‘protection’, the Jew has no way of knowing and continues his trade as a jeweller and watch-maker, for the profit of the couple. But as the husband overplays his hand and the wife becomes trapped in a conflict between greed and humanity, the Jew realises that something has changed...

This interactive workshop will change how you view yourself and others. While it is suitable for any person wishing to improve the quality of their relationships, it is of particular benefit to anyone who works in a management or supervisory role.

Our teacher, Kerry Foley is the founder and CEO of Creators of Transformation. She has studied human psychology extensively for the past five years, and now specialises in assisting individuals like yourself to develop expert leadership and communication skills. She is a trained NLP life coach, inspirational public speaker, and personal transformation expert. Kerry believes that positive, healthy relationships are the cornerstone to a wholesome fulfilling life. She also appreciates the challenges that can be faced when dealing with people who display difficult behaviour.

Marlow Rosado Concert
Fall under the spell of Latin Music & Dance, with a sizzling Latin concert led by Multi Grammy Award Winning pianist and producer, Marlow Rosado.

The concert will be visually amplified by jaw-dropping choreography, breath-taking moves and unbelievably sexy dance routines, brought to you by an ensemble of some the World’s Best Latin Dancers.

About Marlow Rosado
Originally from Puerto Rico, Marlow is a pianist, composer and producer who has worked with artists like Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Selena, Olga Tañón, and Desmond Child.
His album "Retro" won the Best Tropical Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards, and in 2016, he won a second Grammy as a producer! This will be Marlow’s first visit to Australia.
Marlow will be accompanied by the Sydney Salsa All Stars, a collection of some of Sydney's finest salsa musicians who have formed the backbone of countless influential Latin bands over the years

About the Dancers
Latin Extravaganza will showcase World Champion Latin dancers from Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, the USA and Australia. Feast your eyes and immerse your soul in the fiery and sensual Latin dances of Salsa, Samba, Bachata, Cha Cha and Mambo!
Highlights will include gravity-defying acrobatics from Gabriel & Leticia (Argentina), 6 times World Champions. Be charmed by the charismatic Rodrigo Cortazar (Mexico) who will entrance with you his elegance, sensuality and amazing musicality. Feel the goosebumps when Bersy Cortez steps on stage, known as “The Beyonce of Salsa” she will make you fall in love with Salsa!

Note that the concert is not included in Full Passes to the Sydney Latin Festival.
However, Marlow & The Sydney Salsa All Stars will be playing a set during the Saturday night parties in the Novotel Parramatta
Our Internationals will also be performing at the Closing Party on Sunday Night at the Novotel Parramatta.

Comic opera at its best! A vivacious romp through mistaken identity in one of Donizetti’s most brilliant and popular operas, Don Pasquale. Young and old will delight in this farcical tale of Don Pasquale’s attempts to secure a wife and disinherit his nephew, Ernesto. Mischievous Dr Maletesta is on hand to ensure that feisty Norina marries the man of her dreams. Jam-packed with melodic and memorable tunes, it features many of the opera world’s most cherished arias and ensembles and has something for everyone. Performed in English, this fully costumed performance is complete in 90 minutes (2 x 45-minute halves).

Come and learn how to make kokedamas. Originating in Japan, Kokedamas are those wonderful, hanging string and moss gardens that you can make easily, once you know how! You will come away with 2 or 3 (depending how quick you are at stringing up!) stunning Kokedamas that retail at $40 each! So this workshop is great value as well as being so much fun.

You will definitely get your hands dirty and learn all about the sorts of plants that are suitable to 'kokadama' and how to create the appropriate soil mix. String up some sturdy succulents and take them home.

Kokedamas are perfect for small garden spaces and apartments and are very portable (no heavy pots!)

Believed by many to be one of the greatest playwrights in theatre history, Henrik Ibsen's play, A Doll's House is seen by many as his greatest work. Currently a NSW school English and Drama Curriculum and recommended reading text, this beautifully tragic tale, seemed to foretell a future of independent thought for women. Presented by respected Shakespeare and classics theatre company, Bard On The Beach, for school's and general public matinees and evening shows.

Cabaret De Paris is a stage spectacular celebrating old-fashioned showgirl glamour mixed with the skill of adagio dancers, aerial artists, pole dancers, comedy circus performers, quick change artists and of course the iconic and much-loved ‘Can Can’.

Audiences will fall under the charm of former Moulin Rouge star, Marissa Burgess, the legendary showgirl and toast of Paris who has starred in three multi-million-dollar revues earning the title of longest serving star in Moulin Rouge’s 120-year history. Marissa will be joined by the crème de la crème of showgirls who have graced the stages of Moulin Rouge, The Lido and other French cabaret revues.
