EVITA

Event Date: 20/11/2015, 07:30 pm

The award-winning epic musical!
Manly Musical Society follows up its hit recent productions of Chess and Company with the famous epic about the iconic South American leader, Eva Peron.

Winner of several major awards, including the Tony for Best Musical, this timeless musical follows the rise of Evita (as her adoring public called her) from the slums of Argentina to her appointment as First Lady.
Peron was worshiped by the people as an advocate for the poor and became one of the most powerful women in the world.

Featuring the music and lyrics of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice (Joseph, JC Superstar) at the top of their game,
Evita features such hits as “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” and wowed the West End and Broadway
in its original seasons - running for 5000 performances.

Since then, countless international productions have featured such stars as Elaine Page, Mandy Patinkin,
Ricky Martin and Australia’s own Philip Quast. The 1996 film starred Madonna and Antonio Banderas.

The season opens Friday 20 November and runs Thursday to Sunday until 28 November.

Directed by Carl Olsen, produced by Keith Muir with musical direction by Anthony Cutrupi and Alison Logie’s choreography, the production features Keira Connelly in the title role, Neville Bereyne as Juan Peron and Luke Holland as Che, William Sunderland as Magaldi and Heather Campbell as Peron's Mistress.
Plus Kiana Carty & Maeve Cox as Child Soloists.

With an ensemble comprising Tavis Cunningham, Sam Ducker, Harrison Vaughan, Danielle Siller,
Alison Gracia, Madeleine Norris, Susana Tagoai, Georgia Ellis, Jessica Manning, Rosie Barrett and Ben Greenwood.

Dinkum Assorted

Event Date: 18/11/2015, 07:30 pm

Over my dead body he’s selling us up for scrap!
“You will love every minute of it”
-The Australian

During the wartime winter of 1942, in the remote country town of Warrabadanga the female workers at the Dinkum Biscuit Factory are battling to keep the biscuits baking.

For these ordinary Aussie women in a town devoid of men, life is challenging. Not only are they fighting to save the factory machinery from being sold for scrap, they’re running a ‘Mum’s Army’ Civil Defence Unit, putting on a show for the ‘War Effort’ – and coping with the sudden arrival of two thousand American airmen who’ve been stationed just outside town.

This poignant, yet very funny musical comedy about a group of women striving for personal and professional freedom against the backdrop of a changing world serves up a slice of Australian social history with laughter, tears, songs, tap dancing – and Rita, the regimental goat!

Event Date: 15/11/2015, 05:00 pm

Australia's ultimate comedy smack-down!
In the 30th anniversary year of Theatresports in Australia, after a record 30 teams played in the heats, we are now in the final knock-out rounds of the prestigious Cranston Cup!
The best 18 teams are currently battling it out for impro comedy immortality over 3 Sundays at the Factory Theatre for the chance to play in the biggest Grand Final in Australian theatre!

Summers can span decades, winters can last a lifetime, but the struggle for possession of the biggest, gaudiest cup in the known world. It stretches from the south and inner west, where teams of impro comedians breed plots, lusts and intrigues, and to the savage eastern suburbs, where armies of latte-drinking ad-libbers prepare to take on the frozen north shore. The kings and queens of Theatresports – history’s greatest comedy improvisers – face off against the young lords and ladies of ad-lib… all of them must play the ‘Game of Games'.
