Opera Bites returns to The Roxbury Hotel with The Elixir of Love, Donizetti's delightful comedy
Mid-week in a Sydney pub - glasses tinkling, conversation bubbling, steak sizzling . . . . SURPRISE! . . . . the divine melodies of an opera begin and a fully costumed cast appear!

As the sublime music begins, a touch of narration is added and a favourite opera comes to life.

Feel like you have front row seats as you get up close to the thrill of live performance.
Join us for a relaxed drink and delicious meal whilst enjoying some of the opera world’s favourite music – we promise even the non-opera-lover will enjoy an evening Opera Bites style!

Opera Bites returns to The Roxbury Hotel with The Elixir of Love, one of Donizetti's most delightful comic operas. Sung in English, this 90-minute version tells the story of a country bumpkin who wins the hard-to-get heart of the girl he adores, aided by a "magic potion" and a travelling quack. This charming comedy bubbles along as the "elixir" causes as many problems as it solves.

Featuring one of operas best loved arias: ‘una furtiva lagrima’ – ‘one furtive tear’, this operatic gem contains many more hits and even some audience participation – Opera Bites style!
The combination of top tunes and all the hilarity is sure to keep everyone laughing and humming all the way home.

Technology is redefining the way artists create and collaborate. At this unique event presented by Dropbox, James Lyell and Hugo Gruzman (Flight Facilities), Glenn Richards (Augie March), Mikah Freeman and Vance Musgrove (The Aston Shuffle) and Tim Hardaker (Triple J) discuss the creative process behind some of their biggest hits and explore how technology is helping to bridge distance allowing artists to collaborate around the world to make music together.

The talk will explore:

- Collaboration and creativity: artists will reveal the process that went into creating some of their biggest hits

- How technology has redefined the way musicians create songs

-What technologies will be game-changers for musicians, producers and composers

-Advice to emerging musicians about using technology to support their career

All proceeds will go towards the Himalayan

Sparkling afternoon concert with star bassoon Soloist!
The Balmain Sinfonia presents its latest sparkling Sunday afternoon concert on the 31st of May with a feast
of Brahms, Elgar, Vivaldi and Donizetti - featuring international bassoon virtuoso, Sydney’s own KIM WALKER.

As always, the Sinfonia will play in the elegant Macquarie Theatre at Macquarie University, North Ryde.

Professor Walker is one of the world’s most celebrated bassoonists, a prolific recording artist and a highly respected
international performer, teacher and administrator – most recently dean and principal of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
She has played with the London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic orchestras and
most recently toured throughout Europe, North America, South America, Asia & Israel.

Hyundai's car designer Casey Hyunto speaks at the Vivid Ideas Exchange
Hyundai is the fastest growing automotive brand, in terms of both sales volume and brand value. It is the world’s fifth largest automotive corporation with revenues over US$90 billion in 2014 and sales over 8-million vehicles annually.

At the heart of the multinational’s phenomenal growth and brand transformation is an Australian designer and visionary, Casey Hyun.

Credited with the development of Hyundai’s design identity named ‘Fluidic Sculpture’, Casey is in charge of the development, management and application of this nature inspired design philosophy across the entire Hyundai vehicle lineup.

Casey has personally led the design of the all new flagship Genesis (2014), the new i20 (2014), HB20 for Brazil (2012) and Hyundai Sonata (2010).

Casey grew up in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde and attained his industrial design degree from UTS. As a designer, he has worked in numerous multinational companies around the world including Panasonic, Ford, GM and Audi.

This will be Casey's first public presentation in Australia. Don’t miss this intimate and unique keynote presentation!
