Each location is different, as every community has its own unique energy, and we want to bring this out in our expos – so you will find, that a key difference to our expos is the energy that connecting with a community creates.

The Dead Ones is an exploration of memory, death, family and
the power of objects through storytelling and photography.

After everyone in her family died, Margie was left to clear out their house.
She became fascinated by what is left when loved ones die and
documented her feelings and the processes involved.
The Dead Ones explores her family stories though the objects left behind.
Part theatre, part slideshow, part wake, part homage to William Yang, The Dead Ones is
a deeply moving personal journey into Margie Fischer’s family that has resonance for us all.

Having released an acclaimed debut album in 2011, the man with a voice "like chocolate" returns to Foundry616 to enchant audiences.

Nic Jeffries has performed widely across Australia at clubs and festivals under his own name, as well as being a featured vocalist with Australian Jazz legend James Morrison & more recently as a side man with Steve Clisby. With a reputation as a one of this countries finest vocalists, he is known for his warm, rich vocals - not to mention his notable abilities on the saxophone.

Joined by an exceptional rhythm section featuring Marcello Maio on piano, Alex Boneham on double bass & special guest Ben Vanderwal (WA) on drums, the band will be performing and exploring arrangements from Jeffries' debut release as well as new material soon to be recorded for his second album.

Come and spend Valentine's Day listening to an exceptional piano quartet led by one of Australia's jazz greats - Mike Nock.

Mike Nock has had a career spanning decades across USA, Europe and Australia, has composed and recorded extensively, worked with many high profile musicians globally and nurtured many a young rising star. Since his 1985 return to Australia, his groups have maintained a tradition of introducing outstanding younger musicians to Australian audiences and this band is no exception.

A stellar quartet, featuring new addition and drumming sensation Oli Nelson (winner of the 2013 James Morrison Scholarship), saxophonist Karl Laskowski and heavyweight bassist Brett Hirst, this quartet plays today’s jazz at its exciting best - expect a program of Mike’s originals along with selected jazz standards.

An exciting night of music – expect sparks to fly!

Jay Anderson has been featured on over 300 recordings, four of which have received the Grammy Award.

He has conducted clinics around the world and is a Professor of Jazz Bass Studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Jay currently co-leads the critically acclaimed group BANN featuring Seamus Blake, Oz Noy and Adam Nussbaum.

Bassist/composer Jay Anderson is among the most versatile and respected jazz artists performing today.

He has performed/recorded with a wide range of jazz artists including Woody Herman, Carmen McRae, Michael Brecker, Paul Bley, Bob Mintzer, John Abercrombie, Dave Liebman, Joe Sample, Maria Schneider, John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Vic Juris, Red Rodney, Ira Sullivan, Mike Stern, Anat Cohen, Toots Thielemans, Kenny Wheeler, Jay Clayton and non-jazz artists like Oswaldo Golijov, Dawn Upshaw, The Australian Chamber Orchestra, Robert Spano (Atlanta Symphony), Michael Franks, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, Chaka Khan, Michel Legrand, Allen Ginsberg, and Celine Dion.

In February 2014 Jay will be touring Australia with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and four-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Dawn Upshaw performing music by distinguished American jazz composer Maria Schneider.

Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music is a major audience participation event and an unparalleled night of entertainment where the audience become the stars of the show! See the classic movie on the big screen, re-mastered to its original cinematic glory and with SONG SUBTITLES on the screen so whether you’re an avid Sound of Music enthusiast or only know a lyric or two, the song sub-titles ensure no one misses a beat!

This year’s event sees the return of the sensational Marika Aubrey as your Host! Currently gracing the stage as part of the stellar cast of 'South Pacific' and having dazzled an array of cabaret audiences across Australia and the United States, Marika will guide the animated crowd in song and action as well as judge (with a little bit of help from the Audience Clap-O-Meter!) the show’s famous audience costume parade.

For all Sing-A-Long-A- newbies, be prepared to pull out your Leisl-inspired Gazebo gown, press your best white dresses with blue satin sashes, whip up some Lederhosen made from curtain fabric, or even brown paper (packages) tied up with string! There will be everything from gaggles of nuns to goats and goat herders, even the Alps themselves! Limited only by your imagination!

A tremendous atmosphere fills the theatre, one that is well worth while experiencing first-hand, as the crowd goes wild at those iconic moments - cheering when we see our beloved Julie Andrews for the first time, wolf-whistles for the Captain, hisses for the Baroness – a favourite……and big boos for the Nazis!

So get together with a few of your favourite friends, whip up a cozzie, warm up those vocal chords and get ready to be a part of the ultimate sing-a-long experience as we celebrate the world’s favourite movie music
