Twenty years can really fly by when you’ve been so many different people. Trevor Ashley has been a fixture of the Sydney entertainment scene for two decades, refusing to be defined by gender, style or playing by the usual showbiz rules. He has starred in iconic musical theatre roles, cabarets with a twist, and his own outrageous pantos for his whole life.

Whether you’ve seen Trevor perform at Sydney Opera House, a Spiegeltent or Stonewall, (or have never been to one of his shows before) you know it will be a night of epic music, laugh-out-loud comedy, and of course, a sequinned gown or six.

Join “La TrAshley” in a special, intimate show exclusive to City Recital Hall, as he recounts some of his favourite moments of his career, and also creates some new ones. Expect songs and stories from Les Miserables, Hairspray and Priscilla, plus special appearances by several well-known divas. Who knows? Maybe Liza Minnelli and Shirley Bassey will appear!

Trevor says: “I’m so excited to be performing at City Recital Hall for the very first time. It’s also the first time I have really looked back at my life and these last crazy 20 years in showbiz. It’s been a wild and exciting ride. I can’t wait to share that with my wonderful audience here in Sydney. It’s going to be very special.”

Accompanied by wunderkind James Simpson and an eight piece band, this not-to-be-missed concert celebrates how a boy from Bexley can end up headlining in heels on the West End, and everywhere in between.

Five extraordinary musicians combine their talents.
With the passion of South America bubbling in his blood, composer, pianist and vocalist Daniel Rojas leads Orquesta La Luna Tango as it sighs, cries and caresses the instrumental and vocal legacy of such icons as D’Arienzo, Caló, Pugliese, Piazzolla and Troilo - as well as Rojas’ own heart-felt, eclectic and contemporary compositions.
Enter the ‘Golden Era’ of tango in the streets of Buenos Aires where bittersweet melodies of love and life literally tangle with voluptuous artistry.
The main set features Rojas at the piano with Daniel Wallace-Crabbe on bandonéon, Angela Lindsay & Matt Bruce on violin and Annabel Cameron on double bass.

The opening set spotlights Daniel Rojas solo with his rich and varied Latin American piano repertoire: tango, afro-Cuban, Andean, indigenous and more - all with jazz and classical influences (yes, even Bach!) and his trademark improvisation… And always passion!

“I take liberties with the music because I want it to always remain fresh and exciting,” says Daniel.
“But besides the fireworks, it is also music that is informed and intelligent.”

The repertoire includes quintessential tunes like the intimate “Bésame Mucho”, Piazzolla’s “Libertango” and “Resurrection of the Angel”,
the dance-igniting rhythms of “Mambo Infuenciado”, Argentinian tango… and even a 16th century Peruvian gem!

Mind blowing fun and games with Mr Gorski
One of Australia’s most loved festival stars comes to Sydney Fringe in September with a twinkle in his eye,
a twist in his moustache and a slew of tricks and gags to delight audiences of all ages!

The charismatic Mr.Gørski executes his favourite variety-show skills and seemingly impossible tricks
in a chaotic and hilarious show at St Peters Town Hall from 18-29 September.
The ‘man behind the mo’ is Daniel Gorski, originally from Melbourne and now seen regularly on stages and televisions
all over Australia including La Soiree, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and ABC Kids’ Hoopla Doopla.

Daniel was lucky enough to be brought up in a very eccentric, Polish artistic environment that
encouraged his creative choices to start performing early. It is this early family influence that has inspired such characterisation.

Mr.Gørski's festival show was first performed with great success as part of Sydney's Hoopla Festival 2014
and has since been part of Sydney Children's Festival, Viva La Gong, Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival,
Perth Fringe World, Adelaide Fringe, KISS arts Festival, Tasmania's Festivale and Perth's Joondalup Fest.
Daniel Gorski is also known for playing the character Jango from the ABC Kids show ‘Hoopla Doopla’.

The charming, high energy show winks at old-time vaudeville and an era before computers and special effects.

Oz Comic-Con is back in Brisbane 22 - 23 September, at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, providing QLD’s yearly, ultimate celebration of pop-culture.
Oz Comic-Con is an exciting culmination of multi-genre content, from across the spectrum, with a lot of everything, for everyone – appearances by film and television stars, comic book artists and voice actors; gaming demonstrations and cosplay competitions; creative workshops and master classes; and hard-to-find, exclusive merchandise from vendors that’ll leave convention goers totally geeking out.
Kids can try their hand at comic art, at the kids’ comic artists workshops, or even get into cosplay for the Kids Cosplay Parade. Comic collectors can head over to the comic grading area, and to the main stage for guest panel discussions. Anime fans will have their knowledge tested with trivia, and die-hard cosplayers can kick off their journey to take home the international title, in Brisbane’s Championship of Cosplay heat. Gamers will be getting a work-out too, with Couch Warriors, putting their skills to the test in daily tournaments of new and classic titles. And this is only a preview of what’s on offer!

Count Almaviva has fallen in love with Rosina – he has come to Seville in disguise as the student Lindoro to win her hand and to see if she will love him for who he is and not his rank. First, however, he must get her away from the clutches of her protector Dr Bartolo who wants to marry her himself. Almaviva enlists the help of Figaro, the barber and general factotum, who is always ready (for a price) to come up with a brilliant idea. Rosina is indeed in love with Lindoro (although she has no idea who he really is) but Dr Bartolo’s accomplices, Berta and Don Basilio try their best to thwart the Count’s plans. Figaro makes the Count disguise himself as a soldier as a way of getting into Bartolo’s house but will Rosina want ‘Lindoro’ when she finds out about his deception...?
