Following the acclaim for our Romeo and Juliet – Prokofiev | Shakespeare in 2012 we bring you a brand new production of more of Shakespeare’s best, with the magic of some of Mendelssohn’s greatest music.

Featuring stunning young sopranos Sylvie Humphries and Bridget Patterson with the Wesley Institute Choir, this is family fun not to be missed.

An exploration of one of life’s toughest battles, romance, LOVEBiTES will playing at Hayes Theatre Co from Wednesday, 10 September 2014.

From the writers of The Hatpin, LOVEBiTES is a series of short stories about falling in love, catching one half of each couple in the instant that love strikes and then hearing from the other half about how it ended up, giving us a unique, hilarious and moving insight into the separate perspective of the two individuals who share it.

LOVEBiTES stars Kirby Burgess Sweet Charity, Hairspray, Tyran Parke South Pacific, Into The Woods, Adele Parkinson Carrie, Legally Blonde and Shaun Rennie CATS, Mamma Mia.

The original production of LOVEBiTES was staged in 2009 at the Seymour Centre, and then went on to play in Perth in 2010 at the Playhouse Theatre. This new production is the theatrical debut for Wooden Horse Productions.

“LOVEBiTES is an extraordinary piece which was loved by audiences and critics alike at its premiere here in its home Sydney. 5 years the show has played around Australia, as well as in London and New York. I am thrilled to present the LOVEBiTES as Wooden Horse Productions debut show in a whole new way, giving Sydney the chance to be first to hear a brand new orchestration from composer Peter Rutherford” - Troy Alexander, Director.

The Laugh Stand at Harold Park Hotel has played host to many comedic legends this year. Adding to that prestigious list is your headliner for Tuesday 2 September: old-school Aussie comedy icon, George Smilovici.

Since topping the Australian and NZ music charts, and USA comedy charts with his hilarious hit monologue, ‘I’m Tuff’, George has had a significant influence on Australian comedy. He has toured all over the world, played stadiums, been all over TV (‘Hey Hey It’s Saturday’, ‘The Footy Show’, Stand Up Australia’ etc), performed for the troops, written ads and columns, shared the stage with rock legends (Joe Cocker, Talking Heads, James Reyne and more), and brought the house down for the biggest corporate clients in the world. He is a comedy icon and we are thrilled to have him at our very own comedy icon, Harold Park Hotel.

Your Emcee is the multitalented radio broadcaster (most often heard on Triple M), corporate Emcee, writer and comedian, Chris North. Chris comes from a background of over 11 years in commercial broadcasting and has significantly shaped the landscape of Australian radio and television. Chris was the Studio Anchor and Executive Producer on the phenomenally successful drive-time radio show, ‘Merrick and the Highway Patrol’ on Triple M. Since being a National Raw Comedy Finalist in 2003, Chris has sold out seasons at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and cemented himself as an in-demand Emcee and comic.

AUTO OBSESSION - Quick Tix

Treasures from the Museum’s car collection out from the vaults

The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences will for the first time showcase its extraordinary car collection in a new display at the Powerhouse Museum.

AUTO OBSESSION is part of a new Re-Collection project to ensure greater public access to the Museum’s rich collection.

Featuring over 25 restored and original historic cars, AUTO OBSESSION comprises a curious, eclectic and fascinating collection from luxury tourers and family sedans to racing and sports cars.
Also on display will be the Museum’s extensive collection of Matchbox cars, arguably the largest such collection in Australia. It has been claimed that in the halcyon days of Matchbox in the 1960s, Australians
purchased more of the little die-cast toy cars per capita than any other country.

“Auto Obsession highlights our love affair and lifelong obsession with cars. It is fitting that a car show is the first in our new Re-Collection series where we will bring the Museum’s extraordinary collection out of the vaults and on public display,” said Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences Director, Rose Hiscock.

Many of the cars in AUTO OBSESSION are time capsules of automotive history, having had little work done on them other than to preserve them in carefully monitored storage conditions. They can be compared to the much sort-after "barn find" cars in the current collector market.
