Step into the shades of Pemberley and celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth.
“There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.”
—Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility

Step into the shades of Pemberley and celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth with performances of popular songs and arias from Georgian England.

Before the pianoforte keys were struck and the first note sung, music was already at the heart of Jane Austen’s world. In drawing rooms lit by candlelight, music was a shared language of love, longing, and polite rebellion.

No Charm Equal brings this world vividly to life, with a concert of songs and operatic excerpts beloved in Austen’s era. From the sentimental ballads copied by hand into family songbooks, to arias from the comic operas that swept through 18th-century England, this program recreates the musical soundscape of a Georgian parlour, where heroines once sang for guests and lovers.

Sydney Chatswood - W 16 July - Family Pass Up For Grabs!
The Concourse Chatswood - Wed 16 July 12:30pm

A heartwarming and hilarious tale leaping from the pages of Jackie French and Bruce Whatley's much-loved picture book, Josephine Wants to Dance arrives at The Concourse, Chatswood for three shows only on Wednesday 16 & Thursday 17 July and Coliseum Theatre, Western Sydney on Saturday 19 July for two shows.

This delightful stage adaptation, presented by Monkey Baa Theatre Company, brings to life the inspiring story of Josephine – a kangaroo who dreams of dancing. Despite what her brother Joey says – that kangaroos hop, not dance – Josephine pirouettes and pliés her way through Shaggy Gully, determined to follow her passion. When a visiting ballet troupe’s prima ballerina is injured just before curtain-up, Josephine leaps at the chance to prove her talent. But can a kangaroo really perform centre stage? And does it even matter what others expect of you, when you believe in yourself?

“A delightful message that anything is possible if you work hard and persist…

an engaging and entertaining high-quality production.” Broadway World

The Revlon Girl

Event Date: 20/06/2025, 07:30 pm

A rich drama about grief, greed and make-up
Aberfan, Wales, 1966. A coal waste landslide cascades down the mountainside engulfing a school where 144 people were killed,116 of them children. The Revlon Girl tells the real life story of a group of bereaved mothers who meet every week above a local pub to talk, cry and even laugh without feeling guilty.

At one of their meetings, the women looked at each other and admitted how much they felt they'd let themselves go. So afraid that people would think them frivolous, they secretly arranged for a representative from Revlon to come and give them a talk on beauty tips.

This is a heart-wrenchingly sad but funny, thought-provoking story and whilst the play echoes with sadness, it charms with very real humour – and demonstrates that even lipstick can bring a touch of hope.
